Jumped on real quick and ran to 2miles before picking up Lulubelle. Didn’t bother with setting up a movie or anything. Didn’t get bored, though.

“A lot of people run a race to see who’s the fastest.  I run to see who has the most guts.”

–Steve Prefontaine

So the big question I get asked is, “Well, have you lost any weight yet?”  If my dropped jean sizes are any indication, then, yes.  Yes I have lost weight.  How much is unknown to me.  I do know my belly used to stick out like an NFL coach’s beer gut, in an almost third-trimester-gravid glory.  Now it’s kind of flattening at the midriff.  Still the lower ab pooch, but the pooch is perkier.  If it’s any indication, I’ve got a doughnut ring of collapsed skin around my navel, like the air sucked halfway from a balloon.  It’s not a six-pack.  It’s a gallon jug.  Okay, half gallon now.

Right now I’m also working hard on my arms-my main concern.  You can hide your cellulite in great jeans.  You can cover the cankles.  You get away with a pooch when you’re hauling around several children everywhere you go.  Hey, you’re a mom.  You’re going to have some loose skin in the tummy.  But the arms that continue to wave good-bye long after you stop can’t be hidden by that tee shirt.

So every other day I do some lovely arm sets with 8 and 10 pound weights.  I have fabulous muscle strength in my flabulous guns.  I’ve carried kids around for over a decade on those ‘ceps.  Underneath the skin, I’m Spice Williams.

It’s a kick knowing I don’t tire as easily.  Smiling more.  Being happier with myself.  Having a better disposition.  Being less cross with the kids.  Knowing I can run for almost an hour straight.  My former nap time is now “catch the housework up” time.

Got that second 5k coming up in a week.  Excited about that.  Last time I did 41:23.  My goal for the 21st is to shave two minutes off my PB (Personal Best).  39 minutes.  A minute for each year my Significant Other has been on this earth.

I may not BQ (Boston Marathon Qualify) any time soon, but I’m having a hell of a time.

From now on, I'm just going to log minutes ran, unless I run/walk or something. 5 minute warm-up/cool-down unless otherwise noted.

Ugh, it's hot… and the phone kept ringing. Was struggling just a bit today… Wore shoes. Looking forward to that cool shower and lunch!!!

And my chocolate milk recovery!!! :0)
